Inspired by the manmade nature and sense of alienation the artist experienced in Hong Kong, Cheng's multidisciplinary practice recurringly reveals the complex of light, shapes, and spaces.

Cheng Hung (Dony Cheng) lives and works in Hong Kong. She is a recipient of the 19th Hong Kong Arts Development Award for Young Artist (Visual Arts) (2025) and a studio grant at HART Haus.

Seeing Inside; Seeing Outside
MFA Graduation Show

June 24 – July 5, 2023
Gallery I, Art Museum, Central Campus, CUHK

This exhibition marks the culmination of a two-year Master of Fine Arts program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Titled Seeing Inside; Seeing Outside, it explores the thesis The Symbiotic Relationship of Seeing and Painting: Perceptual Comprehension of Surroundings, investigating how perception and painting inform and deepen one another in our understanding of the world.

The featured work received the Graduate Award from WMA, a non-profit platform dedicated to fostering greater understanding of Hong Kong through lens-based art.

Special thanks to 六木 ROKU MOKU, Tom Chung Man, Siu Man Hin, and Man Chan for their technical support.
